Brandywine Board hears construction update on facilities

NILES -- The Brandywine Board of Education received a construction update from Skanska officials Monday evening indicating that everything was going to according to plan with the facility improvement project.
Skanska project manager Steve Orlando presented floor plans of each school and notified the board of the progress that was being made thus far.
Orlando said anyone who has seen the buildings lately can see the extent of the work being done with demolition and now reconstruction.
He indicated that they are currently checking the schedule and tracking the delivery of materials to make sure that everything will be on track when school begins.
Superintendent Gary Rider expressed his desire to continue with regular construction updates to keep the community and staff informed.
In other business:
The new cabling will upgrade the current cabling from category 5 to category 6 cabling, which will allow the school to support gigabyte networks.
There was funding set aside for new cabling in the bond project.
Rider said the goal of this retreat was to help facilitate effective superintendent/board communication.
