Rifenberg wins NBGSA tourney

After putting on an offensive show in its first game, Rifenberg won the Niles-Brandywine Girls' Softball Association's 13-16 year-old tournament Saturday in a low-scoring affair.
Rifenberg blew out Carbons 17-0 to begin the single elimination tournament. The team then edged Mitchell TV 2-1 in the championship game and won the title.

Rachel Shinsky, Kalie Newman and Lindsay Carey each had two hits for Mitchell. Daniell Held led Gordons with two hits, while Erica Gordon and Carly Gordon each added singles. Stephanie Stoops was the winning pitcher, while Carly Gordon got the loss.

Ashley Truesdell and Annalee Nelson both had three hits to lead Rifenberg. Amanda Janke had two single for the winners. Kayla Nelson and Olivia Bonardi each singled for Carbons. Annalee Nelson was the winning pitcher and Jacki Bonardi the loser.

Mitchell was led by Kylee Mudd and Andrea Henry with two hits apiece. Katie Kelly also singled for Mitchell. Kayla Gross and Emily Low each had two hits for Low, while Rachel Batman had one hit. The winning pitcher was Stephanie Stoops. Elizabeth Carlson picked up the loss.

Mallory Barber, Ashley Truesdell and Aliesha Ranft all had hits for Rifenberg. Lindsay Carey, Kylee Mudd and Andrea Henry had hits for Mitchell. The winning pitcher in the final match was Kendra Zache, and Stephanie Stoops earned the los for Mitchell TV.
