Two local baseball players chosen to play in All-Star games

Niles' John Kessick and Brandywine's Billy Syrette have been selected to participate in the softball portion of Sports Fest 2004.
Those two will join other southwest Michigan baseball players to take on three teams from Indiana in Sports Fest, an area all-star event which will be held June 21-25 at Bethel College in Mishawaka, Ind. All teams were chosen by a coaches' vote.
Opening ceremonies for Sports Fest will be held June 20 at Coveleski Stadium in South Bend, Ind.
The Michigan All-Stars will face the Indiana Metro All-Stars on Tuesday, June 22, at 6:30 p.m. The other semifinal will feature Indiana East All-Stars against the Indiana West All-Stars. The championship game will be Thursday, June 24, at 6:30 p.m. There will be no consolation game.
Joining Kessick and Syrette on the Michigan All-Stars roster will be Nate Peak, Anthony Peak and Jon Muff of Edwardsburg, Andy Steinke and Rick Breinling of Michigan Lutheran, Bobby Edelberg and Erich Biggart of Coloma, Ben Knuth of St. Joseph, Steve Terry of River Valley, Dillon Webb of Sturgis, Thomas McCool of Lakeshore, Steve Donnelly of New Buffalo, Jacob Bournay of Lake Michigan Catholic and John Kuhl of Galien. River Valley's Neil Carter will coach the Michigan All-Stars.
The Fun Fest will also include all-star games in boys basketball, girls basketball, volleyball, boys soccer, girls soccer and sofball.
The all-star teams for boys and girls basketball, boys and girls soccer and softball were announced earlier.
