NILES -- The Niles City Council on Monday approved a resolution that places a moratorium on the issuance of any special use permit for sexually-oriented businesses for the next 120 days.
That move apparently was made as the result of an unidentified man who has inquired about opening a strip-type club featuring nude entertainment in the City of Niles, said Niles City Administrator Terry Eull.
Niles City Attorney Robert Landgraf of Hadsell, Landgraf, Lynch and Drew of Niles, said the moratorium will allow the city council and its legal staff to study how such a business would effect the city.
He said he will recommend the city council hold several meetings to discuss the issue.
Eull said the city's staff began researching the issue of sexually-oriented businesses more than a year ago when work was ongoing to create a new city master plan.
