Vikings blast Bridgman Bees

NILES -- Friday afternoon was a nice day in more than one way for the Niles varsity tennis team.
The Vikings earned their first win of the season on the nicest weather day so far of the season, beating Bridgman 7-1 in non-conference play.
The victory evens Niles' record at 1-1.
Not only did Niles beat the Bees, it was a convincing win as the Vikings gave up only eight total games in the matches they won.
At No. 1 singles, Matt Molnar beat Bridgman's Jacob Zars 6-1, 6-0.
Niles No. 2 singles player Colin Smith beat Rob Long 6-0, 6-2.
In the No. 3 singles match, Niles' Nate Fink beat Nate Lyman 6-0, 6-2.
At No. 4 singles, Bridgman's Miles Strebeck came through with his team's only victory, beating Nick Neumann 4-6, 7-6 (3), 6-1.
The Niles No. 1 doubles team of Mina Eskander and Anthony Kessler beat Dane Frandsen and Peter Merrick 6-0, 6-2.
The No. 2 doubles team of Paul Wreggelsworth and Luis Ceballos beat Bridgman's Brad Merrick and Marc Gittersonke 6-0, 6-1.
The last two matches were shutouts as Niles' Skyler Mudd and Andrej Micovic beat Pat Beach and Casey Berti 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3 doubles and Niles' Danny Rodts and John Poole beat Josh Allen and Roger Gampel 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 doubles.
The Vikings travel to Three Rivers Thursday before taking part in the Parchment Invitational Saturday.
