Chiefs split with Eddies

Visiting Edwardsburg scored a 7-4 victory over Dowagiac in the opening game at Rotary Park, while the Chieftains responed to take the second game, 10-6, in non-conference baseball action Monday afternoon.
Edwardsburg looked sharp in the first couple of innings against Dowagiac ace Davey Moran.
Dowagiac (4-2) led 2-1 heading into the third inning, but wouldn't escape without the Eddies doing some major damage.
Edwardsburg (3-2) scored six runs in the third inning and chased Moran from the mound.
Dowagiac closed the gap to 7-4 in the fourth inning on Jesse Cox's first varsity home run. Cox finished the game with three RBIs.
In the second game the Chieftains scored two runs in the first, five runs in the second, a run in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Edwardsburg scored three runs in the fourth, one in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Richie Burling and Cox had two hits apiece.
