Cass teams swept

Even with the sun and warm weather on Monday afternoon, things were cloudy in the Cassopolis dugouts.
The host Rangers (0-1) dropped both its softball and baseball season openers to visiting Colon.
The Ranger baseball team was blanked by Colon, 11-0, while the softball team dropped a 9-4 decision to the Lady Magi.
Jason Rietveld worked the first three innings for the Rangers and suffered the loss.
Rietveld allowed 11 runs on one hit. None of the runs were earned as the Rangers committed four errors behind him.
Rietveld struck out nine and walked six.
Jimmy Warning picked up the victory as he went the distance, allowing just one hit with 11 strikeouts and two walks.
Justin Crespi went 2-for-4 to lead the Magi offensively.
Colon scored single runs in the second and fourth innings before erupting for six runs in the fifth.
The Magi scored three more runs in the sixth.
Coi Petzis struck out 10 and scattered six hits for the Lady Magi in picking up the victory.
Colon scored singles runs in the first three innings and then exploded for five runs in the fifth to make it an 8-0 contest.
Cassopolis (0-1) cut the lead in half with a four-run sixth inning.
Colon completed the scoring with a single run in the seventh.
Cona Marshall and Chaquitta Danzy doubled and tripled respectively for the Lady Rangers.
Danzy suffered the loss as she allowed nine runs on nine hits with six strikeouts and two walks.
