CASSOPOLIS -- The "Home Town Girls" will present a benefit Country Concert for the Mission of Hope Cancer Fund at Ross Beatty Jr./Sr. High School this Saturday, March 27 at 7:30 p.m. Auditorium doors open at 7 p.m. Call 269-445-5100 for tickets.
A former Miss Cassopolis in 1995 and 1996 graduate of Ross Beatty, Heather Mack, got involved last year with the organization which looks to help those with cancer with their expenses.
Mack, 25, currently lives in Lansing, where she works for Capitol Harley-Davidson in motorcycle sales.
Her rise to become 2003 Karaoke Event Entertainer of the Year, where she sang Proud Mary by Ike and Tina Turner to win a trip to Nashville to attend the Charlie Ray Music festival, began years ago in Cassopolis.
Her sister Jenna, now 22, works in Cassopolis at Rite Aid.
Heather got a job as a karaoke D.J. in Grand Rapids and said, "I haven't stopped singing yet.
After learning more about the cancer organization, she was sold on helping too.
She helps the Misson of Hope to organize benefit concerts around the area and thought why not bring one to Cassopolis.
Together with two other Ross Beatty graduates and seven other rising singing stars, those who attend Saturday's concert are promised a look before "they're famous."
Amanda Green, 21, graduated from Ross Beatty 2000 and was also Miss Cassopolis that year. She currently attends Western Michigan University studying Chemistry. She wants to obtain a degree in secondary education to teach high school chemistry.
Green has been singing since she was nine years old at local fairs, talent competitions, and on the radio. She would love a career in music, but that depends on what life has in store for her.
Her sister Ashley Green, 18, graduated from Ross Beatty in 2003, and is currently attending SMC studying elementary education. She has also been singing since she was nine, aspiring to be a Christian singer.
This is the first time the two have participated in a event for MHCF.
