Niles comeback falls short against Sturgis

The Niles varsity basketball team scored 26 points in the fourth quarter but still fell short of overcoming Sturgis' lead in Friday's Big 16 Conference Challenge Game.
The Trojans led by six at the end of three quarters and held off the Niles surge for a 52-47 victory.
Nate Parks scored 12 points in the final period for the Vikings, which finish the regular season with a record of 4-16. Parks finished tied for game-high scoring honors with Sturgis' D.J. Lindemon. Each player scored 17 points.
Kelby Jemison added 14 points for Niles, all on 3-pointers.
Zach Gentile and Patrick Hall each scored 14 points for Sturgis.
Sturgis outrebounded the Vikings 28-23 in the game and Niles shot 18-of-46 (39 percent) from the field. Brian Ketchum led the Vikings in rebounding with four.
Niles faces Lakeshore Monday night at 6 p.m. in the Class B District Tournament at Coloma.
