Bees sting Brandywine

It wasn't until the third quarter that Bridgman pulled away from Brandywine in Lakeland Conference basketball action Friday night.
The visiting Bobcats trailed by just two points, 27-25, at halftime but were outscored 15-6 in the third period and the host Bees earned a 58-44 victory.
The win lifted Bridgman to 12-7 overall and 9-4 in the league while Brandywine fell to 4-14 and 2-11.
Gene McDonald was the only double-digit scorer for Brandywine with 14 points. He made two 3-pointers, as did Casey Udell. Andy Low, the Bobcats' leading scorer at 14.6 points per game, was held to eight points.
Tyler Weaver and Dan Kunde led all scorers with 16 points apiece for the Bees. Matt Haughey added 12 points.
The Brandywine junior varsity suffered a 74-40 loss to Bridgman.
Brandywine hosts New Buffalo Tuesday night in a non-conference contest before travelling to River Valley next Friday night to wrap up the regular season with a Lakeland Conference game.
Brandywine, Bridgman, River Valley, Buchanan, Eau Claire and Watervliet will play in the Class C District Tournament at Buchanan High School, beginning Monday, March 8. Brandywine plays Watervliet in the first round on Tuesday, March 9, at 7 p.m.
