EDWARDSBURG -- The Edwardsburg varsity basketball team was able to catch visiting Bridgman Friday night, but unable to pass the Bees for a victory.
The Eddies trailed Bridgman early, caught them in the fourth quarter, but had to settle for a 50-47 Lakeland Conference setback.
Edwardsburg led 15-10 after the first period of play, but trailed 27-22 at the intermission.
The Eddies and Bees both struggled from the field in the third quarter, however, Edwardsburg did manage to close to 31-28 by the end of the period.
Edwardsburg caught Bridgman at 36 with 5:06 remaining on the clock, but was outscored 5-2 over the next two and a half minutes as the Bees opened up a 41-36 advantage.
The Eddies would only get a basket closer the remainder of the contest.
Nick Roth scored 22 points to lead all scorers. Doug Shuttleworth added nine.
Tyler Weaver led Bridgman with 15.
Edwardsburg rebounded Saturday night on the road against Constantine.
The Eddies outscored the Falcons 39-20 in the first half and then held on for the 70-61 non-conference victory.
Edwardsburg jumped out to a 15-4 first quarter lead and then tossed in 24 points in the second quarter as it built a 39-20 halftime advantage.
Constantine outscored Edwardsburg 41-31 in the second half, but it was too little, too late.
Nathan Peak had 16 points to lead the Eddies. Derek Tighe added 11 points. Anthony Peak contributed nine points.
