NILES -- With new tax legislation in place and with the importance of good record keeping, two local accountants recommend the new year as a good time to start thinking about your taxes.
In addition to being organized and staying on top of things, the two local tax experts pointed out that a new tax bill will cause some changes in this year's filing season.
Some of these changes include:
Andrews said rich people, married people and those with capital gains and dividends will benefit the most from the new tax bill.
He recommended the IRS website, www.irs.gov, for anyone who needs more information on their taxes.
Andrews, whose firm just recently opened, said "we are trying to do something different. We are trying to be positive and build relationships with our customers."
Andrews Tax X Accounting is located at 322 E. Main St., Suite 104 in Niles.
Daniel said when considering hiring someone to assist with your taxes, "it is important to get someone who has a working understanding of your needs and it is also good to have someone who has a relationship with the local IRS office."
The Quality Tax Service is located at 211 N. Front St. in Niles.
