NILES -- It appeared to be a close matchup from the beginning, but as the night continued Brandywine began to dominate Coloma in Tuesday night's Lakeland Conference wrestling match and posted a 49-24 victory.
Each weight class did its job in keeping the evening exciting, as there were only three first-period pins. The match of the night featured 189-pounders Andy Daus of Brandywine and Jon Smith of Coloma. Daws took the decision by a score of 5-4 in overtime.
Brandywine head coach Brad Light was happy with the way his team performed, and is optimistic.
Brandywine's main strengths lie in its leadership of the 10 seniors on the team.
Coloma coach Tim Ishmael is looking forward to the break his guys will get with Christmas.
Brandywine improved to 4-3 overall and 2-0 in the conference.
