Vikings finish second in own tournament

The Niles varsity volleyball team found itself in the driver's seat following pool play at its own tournament Saturday.
The Vikings finished with the best record in pool play, followed by Decatur, Bloomingdale and Bridgman.
In the semifinals, Niles beat Bridgman 21-18 and 21-11 while Bloomingdale beat Decatur 21-15, 18-21, 15-8.
Bloomingdale, however, proved to be too much for Niles in the championship match as the Cardinals beat the Vikings 21-16, 8-21, 15-9 to claim the title.
Sarah Dreher had a huge day for Niles. The sophomore led the team in kills with 40, while also registering five aces, 18 digs and seven blocks.
Melissa Olsen added 26 kills and five blocks. Amber Peters helped out with 18 kills, nine aces and a team-high 21 digs.
The Vikings' next action will be Saturday at the Lakeshore Invitational, which starts at 8:30 a.m.
Bucks bow out in Cass semifinal
Buchanan finished 5-1 in pool play before bowing out in the semifinals of the Cassopolis Volleyball Invitational Saturday.
The Bucks suffered a 15-10, 15-10 loss to Watervliet, which went on to lose to Berrien Springs in the championship match.
Buchanan earned the top spot in Pool A by beating Covert 15-3, 15-0; beating River Valley 15-14, 15-11; and splitting with Howardsville Christian, 7-15 and 15-4.
Buchanan returns to action tonight with a home non-conference match against Dowagiac at 6 p.m
