NILES -- The United Way of Greater Niles announced today that pledge rallies were recently completed at the Niles Precision Co., Tyler Automotive and Simplicity Pattern Co.
Employees at those companies along with corporate donations have helped the United Way of Greater Niles to reach 50 percent of this year's fund-raising goal.
John Stauffer, Niles United Way's executive director, said "We are very grateful for the generous pledges made by many employees. Small donors are very important and make up the bulk of the United Way's support. At this time of year we hope everyone will give what they can to support our local charities."
The campaign theme this year is "What Matters" and the goal is to raise $280,000.
The campaign will run through the holiday season and those wishing to make pledges of any amount are encouraged to contact the United Way.
Donations are used to help fund 18 local non-profit agencies that provide services in the greater Niles area.
