Dowagiac men held in separate incidents by city police in Niles

NILES - A man was arrested in Niles on Saturday pending charges of alleged possession of marijuana.
Dennis Arthur Dilts Jr., 22, 52846, Indian Lake Road, Dowagiac, was arrested after an officer pulled him over for speeding near Oak and East Main streets, the police report said.
The officer made contact with Dilts, who allegedly smelled of intoxicants and what the officer believed was marijuana.
The officer, after handcuffing Dilts, searched Dilts' car and found a marijuana cigarette on the floor of the car.
The officer also found a plastic bag which contained what appeared to be marijuana.
Dilts was placed under arrest and transported to the Niles City Police Department where he was booked and lodged with a $500 bond.

A man was arrested in Niles on Saturday pending charges of allegedly driving with a license suspended.
Donald Paul Bacon, 40, 209 Halstead St., Dowagiac, was arrested after a police officer caught Bacon speeding on South 11th Street, the police report said.
The officer made contact with Bacon in the parking lot of Martin's Supermarket. While doing a background search on Bacon, police received conformation Bacon was driving with a license suspended. The officer placed Bacon under arrest and transported him to the Niles law enforcement complex.
Bacon was lodged with a $200 bond.
