Brandywine knocked out

After trailing 23-9 at halftime, the Brandywine basketball team surged to within seven points of River Valley before falling behind again and losing 48-32 in Wednesday night's Class C District semifinal game.
The Mustangs, now 18-4, advance to Friday's championship game against Bridgman. The Bobcats finish the season at 10-11.
Stephanie Duckett's 3-pointer closed the gap to 34-27 early in the third quarter, but River Valley pulled away from there.
Three Brandywine players fouled out in an effort to stop the clock and regain possession toward the end of the game. Emily Whitney, Emily Christiansen and Nicki McGowen each fouled out.
Judy Schlutt led the Bobcats offensively, scoring 12 points. Christiansen and Duckett each scored six.
Brandywine committed 19 turnovers in the first half.
