Krush volleyball is starting its second season this year.
Last year Krush was started to provide Niles and the surrounding area a place to learn, improve and compete at volleyball at a club level. The first year turned out very well. They had seven teams -- two 12 and under, one 13 and Under, one 14 and Under, one 15 and Under, one 16 and Under and one 18 and Under.
Some highlights were the 15 and Under team placing second at the Regional tournament in Indianapolis, the 16 and Under team Playing in the Gold championship Match of the Logansport Classic Tournament, and the 13 Under team winning a match at the Mideast National Qualifier, playing in the Silver Championship match (15 and Under division) at the Logansport Classic and Playing in the Gold Championship match at the Circle City Classic in Indianapolis.
Dennis Cooper, the director was pleased with the first-year program. There were many things to work out being a new program and educating the players and the parents of how USAV runs.
Knowing that high School teams that compete for the state title year-to-year are filled with Club players, Krush was formed to provide those type of players to the Niles-area high schools so that they would be competitive at the state championship level.
Last year Krush had players from Niles, Brandywine, Cassopolis, Buchanan, Edwardsburg, Berrien Springs, South Bend (Ind.) Clay, Mishawaka (Ind.), and Penn (Ind.) school districts.
