The 2003-2004 Michigan Outlaws Fastpitch team started off the season with a bang, garnering the 14-and-under consolation Championship at the Queen of Diamonds NSA National Qualifier in October.
This was a combination team made up of returning 14u players, fresh new faces and a few standouts from the 12u team.
The Outlaw girls had a hard fought Saturday only to return on Sunday with bats blazing and solid defense which sustained them as they hung firmly with the Michigan Bulldogs of Canton. They then went on to defeat both the Kalamazoo Klash and the MSB Jets of Freeport to win the title of Consolation Champions.
This defensive effort was aided by outstanding pitching from within the circle as Lori Key of Dowagiac, Kristina Ford of Niles and Amanda Elkins of Stevensville showed their hurling prowess on the mound.
The Outlaws are taking tryouts by appointment for a small number of open spots on the 12u and 14U (seventh and eighth grade) teams. Contact Mark Sobralski at (269) 422-2726 or on the web at www.eteamz.com/bangbang.
