LMC opens with victory

The Lake Michigan College men's basketball team opened its season Monday night with a 79-70 victory over the Bethel College (Ind.) junior varsity team.
Former Niles High School standouts Corey Thacker, Adam Shepherdson and Desmond Favors contributed to the Indians' victory. Thacker led LMC with 13 points and five rebounds. Shepherdson added 11 points and four assists while Favors scored five points and also dished off four assists.
Cassopolis High School products Joe Alford, Anthony Curry and Derrick Outlaw also helped the Indians. Alford scored eight points while Curry and Outlaw each added two. Curry also pulled down six rebounds.
Kyle Wright led Bethel with 13 points including four 3-pointers.
