Farrell finishes eighth at Brandywine event

Brandywine sophomore John Farrell finished eighth overall at the Brandywine Invitational Saturday morning.
The Bobcats did not field a full team for the event, but Farrell crossed the finish line at 18:17. Brian Wieger also ran for Brandywine, finishing 36th in a time of 20:09. Robert Thompson came in 53rd for the Bobcats, finishing at 21:20.
Caylin Garrard was the top female runner for Brandywine, finishing 24th with a time of 24:16. Amy Konopinski came in 27th with a time of 24:52 and Melissa Buzzard finished 52nd at 31:09.
The Buchanan boys team took 10th place with 251 points. Darrin Pattillo was the top Buchanan runner with a time of 19:50 for a 27th place finish. Nick Wheetly finished 43rd at 20:56, Ryan Darmos finished 53rd at 21:35, Chad Bailey finished 63rd at 23:08 and Aaron Burns finished 65th at 25:24.
The Buchanan girls took seventh place with 167 points. Lizzy Brown paced the Bucks with a 20th place finish at 23:52. Ellen Sremen finished 27th at 25:12, Melissa Villwock finished 39th with a time of 28:36, Breanne Glenn finished 40th at 29:25 and Heather Coger finished 43rd at 31:30.
The Brandywine and Buchanan cross country teams will compete at the Lakeland Conference meet tonight at River Valley before taking part in the Division 3 Regional meet Saturday at Bangor.
