Niles golfers 12th at Regional

The Niles varsity golf team finished 12th at the Division 2 Regional Tournament, held Thursday at the Coldwater Country Club.
Mattawan won the event with a score of 318. Vicksburg and Mason also qualified for the State Finals with 323 and 325, respectively.
Niles shot 357 as a team with fellow Big-16 West Division teams St. Joseph, Lakeshore and Dowagiac shooting 343 , 360 and 367, respectively.
Vicksburg's Derek Shelburne was the tournament medalist with his round of 71. Other qualifiers included Mattawan's A.J. Musial with a 73, Alex Watkins of Coldwater with a 75, Greg Bastin of Sturgis with a 75, Josh Orler and Mark Pawlowski of Mason each with 77.
Ben Landgraf led Niles with a round of 78 and missed qualifying for the State Finals by one stroke. Also competing for Niles were Josh Flock with a score of 83, Matt Molnar with 92, Scott Majerek with 104 and Andrew Hoyt with 112.
