The Dowagiac freshman basketball team defeated visiting Portage Northern Tuesday night, 26-13.
The Dowagiac junior varsity basketball team dropped a 36-21 decision to the visiting Lady Huskies.
Dowagiac blanked Portage Northern 4-0 in the opening quarter of the freshman contest and then led 14-4 at the intermission.
Dowagiac extended its lead to 22-7 entering the fourth quarter.
Sara Ausra and Amber Clark both scored seven points for the Chieftains, who also got six points from Kaitlyn Roach.
Portage Northern grabbed a 9-4 lead in the JV game after one period of play and 19-6 at the intermission.
The Lady Huskies outscored Dowagiac 17-15 in the second half.
Jolynn Hawkins led Dowagiac with 11 points, while Sarah Ostyn scored six points.
Dowagiac returns to action on Thursday as it travels to Coldwater.
