Viking golfers struggle against Portage Northern

The Niles varsity and junior varsity golf teams travelled to Portage Wednesday afternoon for a Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference dual match with Portage Northern at The Moors Golf Course.
The Vikings struggled to a 157-177 loss in the varsity match and the junior varsity suffered a 188-208 loss.
Ben Landgraf and Matt Molnar paced the Niles varsity squad as each shot 41. Scott Majerek turned in a score of 47 and Josh Flock shot 48. Daren Martin shot 52 and Andy Hoyt shot 53.
The Niles junior varsity was led by Nick Horn's 44. Chris Haas shot 48. Jordan Hendricks shot 57 and Nick Zechlin shot 58. Warren Simpson shot 60 and Willie McGraw shot 61.
The Niles varsity team, which is tied for the lead in the SMAC West Division standings, hosts a West Division meet Monday at Orchard Hills Country Club starting at 3:30 p.m.
