The Dowagiac freshman girls' basketball team won its season opener against visiting Constantine Tuesday night, 25-12.
Dowagiac (1-0) led 4-2 after one period of play and 10-4 at the intermission.
The Chieftains continued to play well in the second half, doubling up the score on the Lady Falcons (16-8) by the end of the third quarter.
Dowagiac put Constantine away in the fourth quarter by outscoring it 9-4.
Sara Ausra led all scorers with 12 points. Dowagiac also got five points from Amber Clark.
