The Brandywine cross country teams joined a host of schools from Indiana to open the cross country season at the South Bend Stampede, held at the St. Joseph County (Ind.) 4-H Fairgrounds Saturday morning.
Without full teams for either the boys or girls race, the Bobcats did not post team scores to figure into the team standings.
However, Brandywine's John Farrell finished second overall in the boys freshman-sophomore race with a time of 18:09. Farrell is a sophomore who also plays football at Brandywine.
Brandywine's cross country teams are set to return to action Saturday at the Edwardsburg Invitational.
