Vikings fall to South Haven

The Niles varsity golf team got a jump on the rest of the sports teams Monday afternoon as it opened its season by hosting South Haven in a non-conference match.
The visiting Rams edged Niles 166-169 at Orchard Hills Country Club.
South Haven also won the junior varsity match, 202-258.
Josh Flock led Niles with a nine-hole total of 40. Matt Molnar and Ben Landgraf each shot 42, while Darin Martin shot 45 and Scott Majerek shot 47. Nick Horn finished with a 55.
In the junior varsity match, Niles was led by Chris Haas' 56. Willie McGraw show 65 and Nick Zechlin shot 73. Also playing on Monday was Derek Simpson.
Niles returns to action today as it competes in the Bronson Invitational. The Vikings remain on the road on Wednesday as they play at Pine View in the Kalamazoo Central Invitational.
Niles completes a busy week on Thursday as it travels West to compete in the Battle Creek Central Invitational.
