NILES -- Niles Community Schools Board of Education had its organizational meeting Monday night at the school district's administrative center in Niles.
Called to order by Doug Law, the school district's superintendent, the school board voted to approve the schedule of the school board's regular and agenda planning meetings for the 2003- 2004 school year.
As before, the agenda meetings will be held on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at Niles Community Schools Administrative Center at 111 Spruce St., Niles.
The regular board meetings will be held on the third Monday of the month at 7 p.m., at the address listed above.
Law said the only exception to the schedule appears in January when the school district will hold no public meeting on the first Monday of the month to honor the memory of Dr. Martin Luther King.
The school board will instead have its January regular school board meeting on the second Monday of the month, which is January 12.
The meeting on January 12 will also be held at 7 p.m.
The school board's Nominating Committee also presented its slate of officers who will be elected new President, vice-president, secretary and Treasurer of the school board.
Nominated for the school board presidency is Mary Crayton, Michael Dreher as vice-president, Elaine Miller as Secretary and Scott Tyler as Treasurer.
The school board also approved the agenda items for the next school board meeting which will be held on July 21, before going into closed session for the purpose of employee negotiations.
