118 join the Human Race Saturday at Fernwood

NILES -- A pair of college cross country runners took the top prizes at Saturday's Human Race 5K Run and Walk at Fernwood Botanical Garden Saturday morning.
Niles High School graduate and Ferris State University student Joe Every was the overall winner in the run with a time of 16:37.
Susan Creary, a member of the University of Notre Dame cross country team, was the top female runner with her time of 19:20.
There were 89 runners and 29 walkers at the event which was sponsored by the Volunteer Center of Southwest Michigan.
Niles resident Dave Barstis was the top walker with his time of 25:27. Nichole Thiele was the top female walker with a time of 36:06.
The top three runners in each age division received awards and the top walker in each age division received awards as well.
