Brandywine, Buchanan play to 3-3 draw

The Brandywine and Buchanan varsity soccer teams pushed each other to the brink Thursday evening and finished with a 3-3 tie.
The Bobcats are now 4-4-2 on the year and Buchanan is 2-7-2.
The Bucks took a 1-0 lead on Felicia Lotsbaich's goal 16 minutes into the game. Megan Hubbell assisted on the score.
Brandywine roared back with two straight goals, both in the 19th minute. Emily Whitney scored off an assist from Bethany Daniel and then Whitney scored again off an assist from Kalie Newman to give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead.
After the halftime break, Buchanan tied the game on an unassisted goal by Arianna Warmbein. Kara Leitz then gave the Bucks a 3-2 advantage on an unassisted goal.
Finally, with 18 minutes left in the game, Whitney scored again for Brandywine with another assist from Newman.
Buchanan outshot the Bobcats 17-13 in the game. Brandywine goalkeeper Judy Schlutt recorded six saves while Bucks' keeper Brittany Harrington had seven stops.
Both teams will take part in the Lakeland Conference Tournament Saturday at Edwardsburg.
