Vikings repeat as West champs

The Niles golf team captured its second straight Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference West Division championship Wednesday afternoon in St. Joseph.
The Lady Vikings won the fourth SMAC West jamboree, played at The Oaks. Niles won three of the four jamborees and took first in Wednesday's event with a score of 241. Dowagiac finished second with 265 and St. Joseph took third with 275.
Niles finished atop the final standings with 15 points while Dowagiac took second with 12 points.
St. Joseph finished third with nine points and Benton Harbor finished fourth with four.
Niles' Lauren Sheldon earned her fourth medalist honor with a round of 53 Wednesday. She finished with the best average in the Division and earned the top spot in the All-Division awards.
Jenna Semrinec shot 61 Wednesday for the Vikings while Lorraine Willis shot 63. Chelsea Benjamin also shot 64.
Willis and Semrinec also earned All-Division honors along with a pair of players from Benton Harbor.
