The Niles golf team won its second Southwest Michigan Athletic Conference West Division jamboree of the season Monday afternoon at Orchard Hills Country Club.
The Vikings' score of 229 was good enough for first place. St. Joseph finished second with 246 and Dowagiac finished third with 253. Benton Harbor did not field a full team.
The win put Niles ahead of the rest of the teams in the West Division standings. The Vikings now lead the league with 11 points. Dowagiac is in second place with nine points and St. Joseph is third with seven points. Benton Harbor is in fourth place with three points.
The final jamboree of the season is scheduled for Wednesday night hosted by St. Joseph. Niles needs only to finish third or better in order to claim at least a share of the West Division title.
Lauren Sheldon led the Vikings Monday with her round of 51. She earned medalist honors for the night, as she has for each of the West Division jamborees. Lorraine Willis shot 55 for Niles and Chelsey Benjamin shot 59. Jenna Semrinec added a 64 while Katie Sheldon shot 69. Kera Lesniewicz also shot 70 for the Vikings.
