Two drunken driving arrests lead police reports

NILES -- A man was arrested in Niles Friday for allegedly operating a vehicle under the influence of liquor.
Brandon Lee Modlin, 18, 2719 Reynolds St., Niles, crossed South 11th Street near the Legus Shell gas station, allegedly forcing a north bound police officer to break hard to avoid a collision, the police report said.
The police report said the officer turned around and followed Modlin, who drove into the gas station's parking lot.
The officer, while talking to Modlin, allegedly smelled intoxicants from Modlin's breath, and also the smell of burnt marijuana from inside the vehicle, the police report said.
The police report said Modlin allegedly admitted to having smoked marijuana one hour before he was pulled over.
The officer placed Modlin under arrest and transported him to the Niles Police Department where he was booked and lodged, the police report said.
Bond was set at $200.
In other police reports:
Robert Allen Hand, 26, 411 Harding St., Cassopolis, was allegedly weaving back and forth while going south on 13th Street, the police report said.
The police report said Hand then turned right onto Main Street and went to 12th Street and Main Street, where he ran a red light.
The officer pulled Hand over on 11th Street.
The police report said the officer gave Hand a personalized breath test, which allegedly showed a reading of .141.
Hand was lodged in the Niles City Jail, the police report said.
The police report said bond was set at $100 after eight hours.
