BUCHANAN -- Following a 6-0 shutout in the first game of a non-conference doubleheader Friday against Dowagiac, the Buchanan baseball team looked as if it might pull off an upset in the second game.
The Bucks rallied for eight runs in the fourth inning but then allowed the Chieftains to score five times and walk away with a 16-11 win.
For Dowagiac (11-3), overcoming a deficit was nothing new.
Chris Singleton (2-1) and Brandon Zachary (3-0) earned the pitching victories for Dowagiac. Josh Wahlstrom (0-2) took both losses for the Bucks which dropped to 2-5 on the year.
After just two hits in the first game the Bucks' bats came alive for 11 hits in the second, led by a triple from Wahlstrom and a double from P.J. Pollock.
Dowagiac had 19 hits on the day, including 13 in the second game. Singleton had a double in each contest.
