The Dowagiac varsity soccer team is not only undefeated in 2003, but the Chieftain kickers are also unscored upon through three contests.
Heading into Thursday's road match against Bridgman, Dowagiac had outscored its opponents a combined 18-0.
A big part of the reason why the Chieftains have yet to give up a goal is they have been playing solid defense.
Heading into Thursday's non-conference clash, Dowagiac had allowed its opponents only eight shots on goal.
Against the Lady Bees, Dowagiac did give up five shots on goal, however, senior goalkeeper Stephanie Cooper was up to the challenge, stopping three of them for her third consecutive shutout.
The Chieftains for the second straight match scored two first half goals before exploding in the second half.
Ashley Caldwell and Danielle Boyd scored for the Chieftains in the third and 35th minute of the match.
In the second half the Chieftains opened the scoring in the 47th minute as Hillary Bissnett scored off a direct kick to make it 3-0.
Two minutes later, Katie Brosnan tallied to make it a four goal lead for Dowagiac.
Danielle Boyd continued to score at a blistering pace for the Chieftains as she connected on back-to-back goals in the 53rd and 58th minute.
Boyd now has 10 goals in just three matches this season.
Just as she did against Brandywine on Wednesday, Amanda Schilling completed the scoring for the Chieftains as she found the net in the 60th minute.
Dowagiac will take a well deserved rest after competing in three matches this past week.
The Chieftains return to the field on Monday when they travel to St. Joseph to open up Big-16 Conference West Division play against the Lady Bears.
The junior varsity match begins at 5 p.m. with the varsity match set for 6:45.
