Dowagiac heads to Coloma

The Dowagiac varsity softball team will get another chance to win a tournament championship on Saturday in Coloma.
The Chieftains will join the host Comets, Niles, Kalamazoo Loy Norrix, Comstock and Hudsonville Unity Christian in the Comets Softball Invitational, which is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
Dowagiac is in Pool B with Comstock and Hudsonville, while Coloma is in Pool A with Niles and Loy Norrix.
The Chieftains will play Hudsonville at 9 a.m. and Comstock at 1 p.m. Comstock and Hudsonville will play each other at 11 a.m.
Coloma will face Loy Norrix at 9 a.m. and then Niles at 1 p.m. The Lady Vikings will play Loy Norrix at 11 a.m.
The top finishers in each pool, as decided by record, then head-to-head competition, then runs allowed and finally runs scored, will advance to the championship game at 3 p.m.
There will also be a third/fourth place game and a fifth/sixth place game at 3 p.m.
All games will be played at Washington Elementary School in Coloma.
