JV sweep Decatur

The Dowagiac junior varsity baseball team continued its winning ways Monday afternoon with a doubleheader sweep of Decatur.
The Chieftains won 3-1 and 12-3 to improve their season record to 5-1.
Dowagiac scored all three of its runs in the second inning against the Raiders, who scored their lone run in the same frame.
Scott Wilkinson tossed a one-hitter with 13 strikeouts.
Dowagiac had Jesse Cox go 2-for-2 wth two RBIs, including the game-winner.
Steve Wisniewski drove in the other run on the squeeze bunt.
In the second game Jordan Huey improved to 2-0 a he tossed a three-hitter with eight strikeouts.
Dowagiac scored a run in the first and then five runs in the second. The Chieftains added six runs in the fourth to turn the game into a blowout.
Decatur scored twice in the first and once in the fifth to account for its totals.
Wilkinson went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs.
Jeromy Northrop was also 2-for-4 with a triple and two RBIs.
Cox scored three runs.
Dowagiac will return to action on Wednesday when it hosts Brandywine in a non-conference doubleheader.
Action is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
