NILES -- The nine Brandywine Middle-Senior High School students who left for Europe on an exchange trip Saturday, March 29, are doing fine and enjoying their time in Europe.
Some concern was raised about the students' safety in Europe before departure because of the escalating conflict in the Middle East.
After a meeting with parents the Sunday before the students left, all parents voted to let their children travel.
Virginia Zimmerman, whose daughter Melisa is among the nine students in Europe, said the last she heard, everyone was doing fine.
She said the students went to Belgium Monday, but were back in the small town of Gorinchem, The Netherlands, where the host families live, the same day.
Wednesday night, the students will leave for Paris, where they will stay until Friday before making their way back to Amsterdam, she said.
Zimmerman said the students are expected to arrive in South Bend, Ind., sometime Sunday afternoon.
