3 file for 2 seats on Niles school board; 1 files in Brandywine

NILES -- Three candidates have filed petitions to run for two open school board seats on the Niles Community School District's Board of Education.
In the Brandywine Public Schools District, only incumbent board member Dennis J. Cooper, of 1540 Ferndale, Niles, filed. Cooper will seek unopposed another four-year term on the Brandywine board.
Filing deadline for candidates was Monday at 4 p.m.
Candidates for the Niles Community Schools' two, four-year board seats are Dana M. Daniels, 1211 Walnut St., Niles, Dr. James M. Grannell, 1855 W. Chicago Road, Niles, and John R. Mattix Jr., 1606 Orchard Lane, Niles.
Grannell and Mattix currently serve on the Niles school board.
School board elections for Niles and Brandywine are Monday, June 9.
