NILES -- Class C District and Regional champion and state semifinalist Brandywine leads the selections for the 2003 Leader Publications 2003 Volleyball All-Stars, selected recently by the sports staffs of the Niles Daily Star and Dowagiac Daily News.
The All-Stars can be found on Page 11 of today's edition of the Niles Daily Star.
The Bobcats, which won their second straight district title, their first ever regional title and achieved their first ever state semifinal berth, landed four players and a coach on the All-Stars list.
Brandywine head coach Gary Whitney was named the 2003 Coach of the Year. Seniors Carrie Cooper, Jessica Keeton and Lauren Heyn made the All-Star list as did sophomore Emily Whitney.
Buchanan, Dowagiac and Edwardsburg each had two players named to the All-Star list. Buchanan senior Sara Layher and junior Ashlee Layher each were named All-Stars. Dowagiac seniors Rachel Minikel and Jenna Stuppy also made the list as did Edwardsburg senior Sammi Strain and junior Kate Habicht.
Finally, Niles senior Hillary Ward was named an All-Star.
