The Dowagiac varsity baseball team banged out 26 hits and scored 30 runs in winning the South Haven Invitational on Saturday in less than ideal conditions.
Cold temperatures and windy conditions didn't seem to hinder the Chieftains who defeated Gobles, 15-5, in the first game and then routed South Haven in the title game, 15-4.
Both games ended in five innings due to the 10-run rule.
Jason McIntyre took the game one victory as he worked four innings allowing five runs with six strikeouts and four walks. Davey Moran worked the fifth inning, striking out three and walking one.
Offensively the Chieftains finished with 16 hits, including four extra base hits.
Richie Burling was 3-for-3 with two singles, a double and three RBIs. Jonathon Bartee went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run. Matthew Carlson was 2-for-3, while Christopher Singleton was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Eddie Campbell was also 2-for-3 with an RBI.
Jeff Cooper was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs. Rod Laylin and Landon Reed both had RBI singles in the opener.
It was another offensive explosion in the second game for the Chieftains as they finished with 10 hits.
Burling was 2-for-3 with a double, a two-run home run and five RBIs.
Carlson went 2-for-2, while Bartee was 2-for-3 again, this time with a three-run double and a two-run single.
Singleton was 2-for-3 with a double. Cooper also doubled for the Chieftains.
Bartee worked three innings, allowing four runs on seven hits with two walks. Moran finished for the Chieftains, giving up a walk and striking out three.
