Hood picks up 300th career coaching victory

Brandywine girls basketball coach Josh Hood picked up his 300th career coaching victory Tuesday night as the Bobcats defeated visiting Bangor 39-29.

Hood coached the Coloma girls basketball team to eight victories and the boys team to 54 wins before moving to Cassopolis.

He coached the Rangers boys team to 63 wins.

At Brandywine, Hood has 175 girls basketball victories.

Through the years, he has won nine district championships, eight conference championships and seven regional title.

The Bobcats have reached the state final four twice during his tenure, including last season.

Brandywine is back in action tonight as it travels to Berrien Springs for a BCS Red Division contest.

Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.

 

Boys basketball

The Brandywine boys team had no trouble picking up its 15th win of the season as it routed visiting Bangor 72-32 Tuesday night.

Hunter Slaughter scored 18 points to lead Brandywine and all scorers, while Jaden Croom added 11.

Scott Miller and Vinny Peel scored nine and eight points respectively for the Bobcats.

Gage Gardner and Devon Nunn both had eight points for the Vikings.

The Bobcats will host Berrien Springs in a key BCS Red Division contest Friday night.

Tipoff is scheduled for approximately 7:45 p.m.
