Matthew Lee Freshour, 39, of Jones, died Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, in his residence.

He was born Jan. 29, 1977, in Elkhart, Indiana, the oldest of four children of Danny and Karen (Jeffries) Freshour. He was preceded in death by his father.

Matthew “Matt” was loved by everyone. He had a soft heart for his family and was protective of them. He was a caretaker and always wanted to be helpful. Matt was a car enthusiast and dreamed about buying a Camaro. He was one of the best procrastinators the family has ever known. He was a jokester and enjoyed teasing his siblings.

Matt was family oriented; his daughter, Kayla, was his pride and joy.

Matthew will be greatly missed by family and friends. He is survived by his mother, Karen (Jeffries) Freshour of Jones; one daughter, Kayla Ann Freshour; one sister, Stacey (fiancé Tyler Storer) Freshour of Fort Wayne, Indiana; two brothers, Randy (Sabrina) Freshour of Vandalia and Kerry Freshour of Jones; one nephew, Lucas Freshour; and several cousins.

Family and friends will gather from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 17, 2016, at Connelly Chapel Wagner Family Funerals, 202 N. Broadway St., Cassopolis. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, 2016, at Pleasant View Church of Christ, 60550 Crooked Creek Road (corner of M 60), Cassopolis, with Pastor Jeff Oliver officiating. Mr. Freshour will be laid to rest in Shavehead Cemetery in Porter Township.

In Matthew’s memory, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to the family for his daughter.
