Great Start to host playgroups, planning meetings in January

Cass County parents and caregivers of children ages newborn to 6 are invited to join the Great Start staff to start the new year off right with January’s play groups.

Meet other parents and allow your child to socialize with other children their age. Play groups will feature “bed time” themed activities for parents to do with their child as well as play areas that encourage their developmental skills.

Each child will take home the book “The Napping House” by Audrey Wood.  A snack will also be provided.

Also join the Great Start staff, along with Pam Boepple from the Cass District Library, for some nursery rhymes and classic stories along with music and movement and crafts.

Parents and children are welcome to join any or all of the play groups and are encouraged to bring along friends and family. There is no cost to attend.

Playgroups at Squires will be offered from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 6, 20 and 27. There will be a special pajama party from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 29.

Play groups are offered in the play group room in the Early Childhood Wing of Squires in Cassopolis, located at 725 Center St. Those attending are asked to use the York Street entrance to the back side of the building and enter in the Play Group Room Door.

The Cass District Library will host nursery rhyme and classic storytime from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 14, 19 and 28.

Great Start will host a parent coalition meeting from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Jan. 5, at Squires, and a Great Start collaborative meeting from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Jan. 13, at the Cass Library.

If Lewis Cass ISD or Cassopolis Schools are closed/delayed, the playgroup will be cancelled. For more information contact Vicki Foote at vfoote@lewiscassisd.org or call (269) 445-6283.
