Andrew Flick is a junior on the Niles wrestling team.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an athlete?
AF: Achieving all-state honors.
What has been one of your biggest disappointments as an athlete?
AF: Not performing to my ability.
What has been a hardship in your life?
AF: Parents divorcing.
Who is a “hero” in your life and why?
AF: My stepdad for always supporting me and pushing me to be the best I can be.
When are you the most nervous while you are competing?
AF: In matches with a close score.
Describe an embarrassing athletic moment.
AF: I was at individual regionals and almost pinned myself.
How do you tend to workout/train when by yourself?
AF: Run outside and improve cardio.
What other sport would you like to compete in if you were not playing yours?
AF: Football.
Who would you say is your “biggest fan?” Why?
AF: My coach, because he always wants the best for us.
How would you give away $50,000?
AF: Put it into the wrestling program.
If you could be the head coach of a team for a year, what team would you choose?
AF: The Ring Lardner wrestling team.
If I did not play sports, I would…?
AF: Spend most of my time on schoolwork.
What is the most challenging thing for you to do in your sport?
AF: Staying focused and looking at the big picture.
If you could change one rule about your sport, what would it be?
AF: The out-of-bounds rule.
What is the best compliment you have ever received?
AF: Hardest worker anywhere I go.
What was the scariest thing you have had to do? Are you glad you did it?
AF: The scariest thing was wrestling the blood round at individual state.
What was the last thing you saw someone do that really impressed you?
AF: A teammate be a leader and stay positive when the team was down.
What is your favorite hobby? Why?
AF: Fishing, because I love the outdoors.
