Big fourth quarter lifts Brandywine to victory

Brandywine outscored visiting Eau Claire 8-0 in the second quarter on its way to a season-opening 54-36 victory in boys basketball action Tuesday night.

The Bobcats (1-0) held just a 17-16 lead after one quarter, but pitched a shutout in the second quarter to lead 25-16 at halftime.

The Beavers (0-1) cut the lead to 34-28 heading into the fourth quarter before Brandywine exploded for 20 points in the final eight minutes to pull away to the easy victory.

Chandler Plew led Brandywine with 13 points. Austin Knapp added 12 points and Vinny Peel 10.

Daveon Dyson had 13 points for Eau Claire.
