Big first half lifts Bucks to easy win over Chieftains

Host Buchanan outscored Dowagiac 25-9 in the first and cruised to a 49-21 non-conference girls basketball victory in the season opener for both schools Tuesday night.

The Bucks (1-0) led 14-2 after one quarter and 25-9 at intermission.

Buchanan outscored the Chieftains (0-1) 24-12 in the second half.

Jade Mosier led the way for the Bucks with 17 points. Brooke Wesner added 14 points and Jayla Biggs seven.

Dowagiac was led by Amiyah Smith’s 12 points. Gabby Harrison finished with four points.
