The Main Street Committee, in conjunction with the Cassopolis Vigilant, is sponsoring a decorating contest for downtown businesses.

The contest, which will be judged the night of Nov. 30, is open to all businesses from the Log Cabin Museum to Wagner Family Funerals on Broadway Street.

“Downtowns have always been the hearts of our communities. We want to do everything in our power to get back to that and help celebrate civic pride,” said Michael Caldwell, publisher of the Vigilant and Leader Publications. “I cannot think of a more fitting way to do this than to help Cassopolis Main Street showcase the Christmas spirit and hopefully attract people to visit.

“While many businesses seem to shy away from supporting Christmas, we feel this is a special time of year and are proud of our passion for the season and it truly means.”

There is no charge to enter the contest.

Leader Publications, which produces the Cassopolis Vigilant, will be offering prizes for first, second and third place.

First place will be $200 worth of advertising in the products of Leader Publications. Second place will receive $100 and third place $50.
