Several people were injured, although to what extent remains unclear, in a four-vehicle accident that involved a Berrien County school bus on South 11th Street in Niles around noon Wednesday.

A Michigan State Police Trooper at the scene said it appears a tan vehicle was turning south onto M-51 from South Street when the vehicle was struck by a school bus that was traveling south on M-51 (also known as South 11th Street). The tan car then collided with a red truck that was traveling south on South 11th Street next to the bus in the right lane.

Another vehicle, a blue car, was also damaged. Police have not yet determined how the blue vehicle was involved.

Gary Brovold, of the Niles Township Fire Department, said the bus was from Blossomland Learning Center and contained two adults and one juvenile. The juvenile was unharmed and the adults were taken to the hospital for evaluation.

The two people in the tan vehicle were injured.

The driver of the red truck was not hurt.

The driver of the blue vehicle was transported to the hospital.

The Michigan State Police is expected to release a report on the accident later today.
