Niles boys fourth, girls fifth in cross country

The Niles boys cross country team finished fourth and the girls team fifth at the SMAC West jamboree hosted by the Vikings in Dowagiac Wednesday.

Portage Central won the boys race with 20 points, while the Vikings finished with 122 points.

Devonte Gaskill was the top finisher for Niles with a time of 18:09, which was good for 18th.

St. Joseph edged Portage Northern 35-36 to win the girls race.

Taylor Altergott finished 21st for the Vikings with a time of 21:40.
